Have You Defined Your Sanity Goals™ for 2013? Learn how…..

Question – in your business or life, at the new year or somewhere down the road of any given 12 months, as you consider defining your life or business goals, have you considered creating Sanity Goals™ to go along with your ‘Vanity Goals™’? Let me explain –

First off, I define Vanity Goals™ as the typical business and life goals people define, strive to accomplish and more often than not, break at the beginning of the new year, i.e. lose weight, start going to the gym, ask for a raise, find a new job, buy a new house, meet a new man/woman, start saving money, etc..

And all of those goals are completely appropriate to make.

Sanity Goals, on the other hand, are those goals meant to improve your daily business and life productivity, effectiveness, achievement rate and probability toward those Vanity Goals and more. These are the goals that if you define and execute on them, you will gain a great deal of focus, clarity, motivation, control, management and SANITY in your life, of your successes, and even the missteps or losses you experience at home or at work.. If you master achieving your Sanity Goals, you will find pursuing and achieving your Vanity Goals, a cake walk.

For example: say you want to start your own business (Vanity Goal™), while increasing your savings (Vanity Goal™), and having dates with your spouse/partner (Vanity Goal™).

Your Sanity Goals™ could then be focused on: repeating daily affirmations for motivation and negating negative self talk, time blocking your work, family and social activities on a calendar as if a firm commitment/appointment, setting daily ‘entrepreneurial’ goals and prioritizing 3 daily tasks toward the business, or say, to work on not procrastinating on your bookkeeping/balancing checkbook/paying bills.

Answer this – if you set those types of goals and achieved them, would you be more SANE?

Sanity Goals™ are those personal development, time management, conflict/stress management, and non-materialistic or intangible goals most people forget to focus on defining each January.

RICH Tip –

  • Layout both  your personal and professional Vanity Goals™ and Sanity Goals™
  • Write out the answer to – What value will each of those goals bring to your business and life? to get a clear understanding of the result expected if the work was to be put into it.
  • Allot as much time and focus on your Sanity Goal™ as your Vanity Goal™… because to often people miss achieving their goals because they are overwhelmed, confused, stressed, unsure, lacking belief and more… they overlooked a critical set of goals that would keep them sane, clear, motivated and focused.

Remember, you have to take care of your Mindset, Emotionalset, Heartset, Spiritualset, etc. in order to optimize your Skill set…. focus on both and you will increase your probability for RICHes in this new year.

Good luck, let me know how it goes…..
